Profile: Natalia Prats

 Name: Natalia Prats

Area of writing: Novels, short stories.

Genres: Fantasy, Mystery, Crime.

Biography: I grew up in Barcelona, land of arts and olympic trills, and began writing stories during high school. Since life kept interrupting me, I wrote on and off in different media for a long time. I got a MD in English Language and Literature and a diploma as an International P.A., and worked mainly as a Language Teacher for many years. I relocated to Exeter in December 2004 in search of a better life, a.k.a. remunerated labour. Now, when I don’t find anything interesting in the library to read, I write it myself. With humour whenever possible.

WordCentral: I joined WordCentral in 2014 and I love the opportunity to get feedback and interesting tips from different writers. This, besides helping break my current social isolation (writers know what I’m talking about), is giving me a lot more confidence and motivation to go on working on my novels.

Current favourite authors: Terry Pratchett and Colin Cotterill. When I grow up, I want to be like them. As long as I don’t have to shave every day.

Pet peeves: When I get asked things like “Are you going home for Christmas?” Er, yes, I like to sleep on my bed during Christmas too, and my bed is in my home. All the way up that hill just over there.

Other interests: I love dancing, hiking, cycling and skating. Since I can’t do any of those at the moment, I settled for designing knitwear patterns and singing in the shower. My neighbours haven’t complained yet.
